In reply to your letter of recent date - was glad to hear from you as you might be some relation to me. My father's name wa Abraham Dye. He came here from Russell county Virginia in 1854. Then a part of Virginia. My grandfather's name was Robert Dye. He came to Virginia from South Carolina thence to Roane County which later became a part of the state of West Virginia on June 20, 1860 - He was Scotch-Irish. My people were tall and average around 6 feet 2 inches in height. They were hard workers clearing out he forest in and around Looneyville, Roane County. I have three brothers viz James M. Dye Harden P. Dye, both deceased and John M. Dye of Looneyville, Roane County, Two sisters Nancy Jane deceased and Luemma Dye of Clendenin, Kanawha County, W. Va.
I believe this is all the data I can supply you at this time. I refer you to Rev. J. Smith Dye, a nephew of mine who is a Chaplin in the United States Army and stationed at Chillicothe, Ohio. He has been tracing the Dye ancestry during leisure time.
